PLOT
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
A heart-warming story of being lost and found again.
Edward is the china rabbit doll that belongs to Abilene. Abilene cares and loves Edward, but Edward does not care or love Abilene. Only after something terrible happens to him, he learns to love and care for others.
Abilene and her family go on a ocean voyage in a large ship. On the ship, two boys take poor Edward away from Abilene. The boys start tossing Edward back and forth. They accidently tossed Edward into the ocean. Edward is lost in the deep blue sea for a long time.
One day, Edward is found by a fisherman named Lawrence. Lawrence gives Edward to his wife, Nellie. Nellie's daughter, Lolly takes Edward and tosses him into the garbage dump.
Edward is found by a dog named Lucy. Lucy takes Edward to her owner, a hobo named Bull. The hobo travels to many places and he carries Edward in his backpack. One day when Bull is getting on a trolley, he leaves Edward behind. An old lady picks up Edward and puts him in her garden to scare away the crows.
Bryce, a young boy with a sun hat, sees Edward and takes him to give to his sister, Sarah Ruth. Sarah is very ill and in bed. She cares for Edward until one day she dies from her horrible sickness.
Bryce goes to eat at a restraunt called Neal's Diner. He orders a lot of food because he is very hungry. He does not realize that he does not have enough money to pay the whole bill. The waitress brings Bryce to Neal the owner and cook. Neal gets so angry that he shatters Edward.
Bryce takes Edward to the doll repairer but does not have any money to pay for repairing him. He makes a deal to leave Edward and never come back. Edward has to remain in the doll shop hoping for someone to find him and take him.
One day a woman with a daughter named Maggie comes to the store. It turns out that the woman is Abilene. Abilene recognizes Edward as her old rabbit and she is very happy to see Edward again. Abilene and Maggie buy Edward and take him home.
Edward has learned his lesson. After all the years, he is happy to be back with Abilene, who has loved him so much. Now Edward will care for both Maggie and Abilene after his long and amazing adventure when he met both some kind people and some mean people.
